First off, I think I’m addicted to art. I’m also fairly certain I’m addicted to comic books and nerd culture. But I know, without a doubt, I’m addicted to the magic of the creative process.
With that off my chest, let’s proceed.
After 20 years in the Shipping, Receiving, Inventory and Warehousing industry, and having grown bored of ‘working for the man,’ I returned to college for business. I earned Associate Degrees in both Entrepreneurship and Marketing. Not satisfied with just a business skill set, I returned to school earning two more Associates Degrees: Graphic Design and Visual Marketing. During my time in school, I earned 4 awards for academic excellence and graduated with honors (both times).
My love of art led me to launch this blog. My enjoyment of the written word led me to author collaborations and editing. My passion for visual creativity led me to layout & graphic design. And my appreciation for all three, plus a lifelong desire to create comic books, led me to comic book editing & lettering.
In April of 2012, I partnered with author R. Smith over at Team Pop Culture, to edit/collaborate on the novel Pop Culture Sucks! Manifesto of a Vampire. Over the next 2 years, we would complete the PCS novel, a collection of serial shorts called Everything Sucks! Shorts, and, finally, the Everything Sucks! Anthology.
In January of 2013, I joined the Escape From Jesus Island creative team as the book’s Editor. Since then, I’ve also taken on the added roles of Production Manager, Webmaster, and most recently the Lettering duties (as of issue #4).
In 2014, the EFJI crew teamed up with writer Tim Stiles to produce his outlandish (and fun as hell!) comic book Cthulhu Williams: Monster Hunter. The project evolved from a short story to a full-length book whose release date on ComiXology is expected the beginning of 2016. I was not only the Editor for the book but also did Lettering revisions and all the Layout & Interior Design as well.
At the start of 2015, I joined forces with writer/artist Joseph Schmalke to Edit (and eventually Letter) his indie grindhouse mini-series The Infernal Pact. With that series completed, we have begun work on The Infernal Pact 2: The Whore of Babylon.
About midway through 2015, I also became part of the Astropunk creative team as the book’s Letterer (and eventually as the Editor/Production Manager).
Lastly, I am currently collaborating with author Lance Martin on the epic twelve-book, fantasy series tentatively titled The Folly of Gods.
I have a few other creative projects also in the works (writing, game design, etc.) but I’m always looking for new and exciting creative projects to tackle.
My life goal is simple. To create, express, promote art, and help artists turn art the hobby, into Art the Career.
Art the World!
