A Small Look At The Art Of Burning Man
Dedicated Artists. This is one of the reasons that Burning Man doesn’t suck. The amount of time, energy, money and skill needed to create these installation pieces, from previous Burning Man events, is staggering. Gardens spring up from desert sands, only to be gone a week later. Towering figures, buildings and art dominate the flat landscape, then disappear for another year. All (at least ideally) with the “Pack it in. Pack it out.” mentality. A short term community dedicated to artistic expression.

To these artists I say “Thank you!” Your efforts are not lost on the rest of the world. You do the Burning Man event justice in all the ways the people who ask, “Do you Burn?!?” do not. The question is asked like the status symbol the event has become to many. If the answer to the question is, “No.” they look down upon you while speaking to “you-who-are-not-worthy.” Every word oozing comtempt. It’s enough to make a man want to throttle them. And, in truth, it has made me hate Burning Man. At the least, any discussions about Burning Man.

But these photos show me why I would love to go to Burning Man someday. These Artists are giving their all to create something special. Something that will live on in the memories of all those who witnessed the works. It must surely be a spectacle to behold. So keep making cool, incredibly interesting art people of “the Burn,” Give Us Art! salutes you!
